Our clients wanted a garden inspired by the romance of Avignon’s provincial gardens and the natural flow of New York’s Highline. Collaborating with Ben Callery Architects, we mirrored the building’s curved shapes in the paving and lawn, creating an organic, inviting space.

An Elsrijk Maple is the courtyard’s centrepiece, offering summer shade and beautiful autumn foliage. Elegant trees; a ginkgo, crab apples, and cercis, add height while providing bursts of golden and pink hues through the seasons. Charred timber cladding provides a striking backdrop for the foliage and flower colours, adding depth and richness to the garden.

The front garden balances formality with topiary and espaliered lime trees, while also featuring natural, relaxed plantings of roses and silver-leaved shrubs mixing with soft blue and white perennials. Upstairs, the owners enjoy a secret highline garden, a perennial meadow attracting bees and New Holland Honey Eaters. As dusk falls, gentle lighting enhances this charming inner-city garden’s magic.
