The front yard of this Californian bungalow was inspired by the resilient and seasonal gardens of the Mediterranean, with timeless materials and plants complementing the period architecture. Designed to be layered and bursting with texture, colour and scent, The Highlander pairs generous plantings of iris, rose and perennials with the structure of large-format bluestone pavers. Bathed in sunlight during the day, the garden is a haven to butterflies, bees and native birds. A Lutyens bench offers a welcome spot to enjoy the late afternoon rays. Then, with the arrival of dusk, a clever lighting scheme illuminates the focal trees and creates a gentle ambience.
